How To Increase Your Vertical Jump – Three Absolute Must Nots

When you’re passionately searching for the solution to how to increase a vertical jump, you may find that you’re not getting the results you were aiming for. It may be a fitness and conditioning issue, however there are some common mistakes that are made during training that may be stopping you from reaching your goal.
One of the major mistakes players make is that they don’t realize that you can work out too much. Strange but true – take a look at the evidence. When you work out, you begin to break down the muscles in your body. Since you aren’t made from an indestructible source, you must allow your body the chance to heal and rebuild as it strengthens. You should not be working out more than five times a week, including your weights routine and time on the court. Anything more than this and you aren’t making progress, instead you are on the verge of over-training and heading for a burn-out.
Something that also proves to be a problem is that most people do not use all their muscles that are designed to help increase a vertical leap. Many people think that you are only using a couple of muscles. In reality you’re going to be working your butt, quads, calf muscles along with toes and ankles too. It is a full body experience while you are building muscles and if you only focus on one area you end up missing out on your full potential. The best course of action is to do a full body workout as it will help you to get your peak results.
With that in mind we find the third problem that people face. While you are exercising all your muscles, you might be doing everything but jumping. While it can an interesting approach to getting more fit, it will not help you to improve a vertical leap. To have that done you must work on jumping as well! This is more of a skill to master as opposed to a muscle that you increase. When you recognize that you can work on building this skill so you end up with better results than you had in the past. Just avoid focusing too much on this area as well.
This is a full body experience and it does need your mind and body to help work it out as well. If you haven’t worked on your focus during the process, then take note. Whilst you’re engaged in jump training, you must pay attention to what’s going on around you and how you are performing. You might notice some positions and even angles in your foot produce better results. This means that you must study everything that you are doing to get the maximum results possible. If not, you’re probably spinning your wheels and unlikely to make any more significant progress.
Remember that if you’re serious about how to increase your vertical leap you need to build your muscles as well as avoid over working them. Practicing your jumping and focusing on results will help you to avoid the major problems that people run into when they are working on jumping higher.
